@Wingman76, Welcome to Mac-Forums. Glad you could join us. First off, you could start with Apple's own features via iTunes. There, you can select a very large range of internet-based radio stations divided up into numerous genres. This is free.
You could pay a monthly fee for Apple Music. That provides access to 30 million or more songs which can he heard individually; or you can construct your own 'radio' which plays the kind of music you like.
Moving on to third party apps — this becomes a very personal choice obviously. I am very fond of Radium, a pay-for app which gives you access to thousands of radio stations world wide; again selected by genre, style etc.
The music currently being played is usually displayed in the top Menu Bar of your Mac, allowing you the chance to note it and explore new music. Radium can be purchased via the App Store. Others will have their favourites, so more ideas may follow mine.
