Well, you opt for the next best thing — an iconic surf haven off the northern California coast. Apple had more up its sleeve than the new, and the at its latest event in San Francisco. The Cupertino-based company showed off more of Mavericks, the latest incarnation of Mac OS X. Better yet, Apple announced that Mac OS X Mavericks will be available as a free download immediately.
Every Mac operating system since Lion (OS X 10.7) has included Recovery Mode, a special boot partition that enables you to recover from catastrophic failures and problems. This can be used to install a fresh copy of Mavericks on your hard drive, provided you have Internet access. If you’re ever in this boat, all you need to do is visit Apple.com’s Software Updates site and you can manually download any of the available software updates as package files; iTunes, Aperature, Mac OS X, firmware updates, security fixes, any update Apple releases is available for download.
Mavericks adds a swath of new utilities and features, boasting tighter cloud integration while claiming significantly improved power-optimization. Already-existing apps like Calandar and Safari have received a makeover, and Apple has even added its own proprietary mapping software to the new OS.
Other new features include tag functionality, Finder tabs and even greater flexibility over multiple displays. Oh, and did we mention it’s free?

I'm sorry – I don't think this is possible. First of all, Apple will use a secured connection to deliver the download to the App Store client. Also, they probably won't allow any other client (i.e. A download manager) to download the installer.
In fact, it's for people to try and find an alternative way to download OS X Lion. Depending on your Internet connection at home this could cause an issue for one of two reasons: data caps and speed of connection. Yes, I know this is somewhat pricy in comparison to the download. Visiting an Apple Store to download the update via their WiFi connection, or even make an appointment at the Genius bar. Again, sorry – this really seems impossible, otherwise you'd have plenty of online resources that show how to download (paid) apps from the App Store without actually using the client.
